Kewl.

I'd go with a 1911, though.
I'm thinking THIS YEAR I'll finally break down and get myself a 1911.
It's been 20 years since my last one.

So many guns, so little time and $$$

This will be the year!  I'm committed.

Sometimes I think parents give in because that is the fastest way...to end the battle...

That's my observation, too.
It's a terrible mistake.

Sometimes I think parents give in because that is the fastest way, "In Their Minds," to end the battle. Mental illness is a very bad thing in families. Not excusing what the father did.

...I think too, that sometimes the kids can have such a "control" over their parents that a given parent can actually be "afraid" not to give in to the wishes of the kid...

Yes. Exactly.
The Sandy Hook School shooter got his guns from his (foolish) mother.
And so on...

The father may face felony charges, too.

To which I can only reply: Good!
Yes, I  agree.

I realize that parents (I've never been a "real" parent, only a step-parent....more than once), tend to believe in the goodness of their kids.
I think too, that sometimes the kids can have such a "control" over their parents that a given parent can actually be "afraid" not to give in to the wishes of the kid.
I've seen it enough times from the perspective of a step-parent, to speak with substantial experience in these observations.
I'll spare you all with sordid examples of these instances.

At the very least, a spell of reality counseling for the parent, the father.

Ugh, stupid stupid to remain blind like that.

As usual, none of the major TV fake news outlets has carried this story. I guess it doesn't fit their agenda driven narrative.

Political Correctness happened.
And making sure that kids feel good about themselves, rather than making sure that they're learning the things which will be useful in "grown-up" life.
And "self actuation," whatever that is.

The result is an almost complete lack of both personal discipline and personal responsibility, larded heavily with ignorance.
Watch a young person make change: If the cash register doesn't tell them what the correct cash-back is, they're lost.
And even modern history is a complete mystery, along with politics and civics.
