Ruger SR1911CMD-A Now Available in 9mm
« on: July 01, 2016, 08:22:19 AM »
This would be a perfect carry pistol for someone who likes the 1911 platform and the 9mm cartridge (IMHO).  A lightweight "Commander" size pistol with the same features as the SR1911CMD-A in .45 ACP.  There goes the bucket list!

The fact that the GOVERNMENT would even consider removing the natural right to bear arms is the very reason why the 2nd Amendment was written.

Article: Rugerís New 9mm SR1911 Lightweight Commander: https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/rugers-new-lightweight-commander-9mm/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20160708_FridayDigest_37&utm_campaign=/blog/rugers-new-lightweight-commander-9mm/

However, the statement; "The 9mm model has a capacity advantage over Rugerís original Lightweight Commander in .45 ACP, holding 9+1 rounds instead of 7+1."  The Ruger Sr1911CMD-A in .45 ACP comes with two 7-round magazines. With an 8-round 3rd party magazine, the SR1911CMD-A in .45 ACP will hold 9 rounds.  I don't consider having an extra round of 9mm a capacity advantage. But, that's just me.

With that said, aftermarket 10-round magazines are available for the 9mm 1911. And, if the Ruger will accept standard 1911 9mm magazines, eleven rounds would be good to have.

The main advantage of the SR1911CMD-A in 9mm is that it is a very friendly pistol to shoot.  That translates to one more round on target (if the shooter does his or her part).  The effectiveness of the 9mm round beside the .45 ACP cartridge is always open for debate.

At first chance, I intend to purchase the 9mm version of the Ruger SR1911CMD-A just to see if the hype is worth the type.
