Court: No right to carry concealed weapons in public

Quote
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Dealing a blow to gun supporters, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday that Americans do not have a constitutional right to carry concealed weapons in public.
In a dispute that could ultimately wind up before the Supreme Court, a divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of

Appeals said local law enforcement officials can place significant restrictions on who is allowed to carry concealed guns.

By a vote of 7-4, the court upheld a California law that says applicants must cite a "good cause" to obtain a concealed-carry permit. Typically, people who are being stalked or threatened, celebrities who fear for their safety, and those who routinely carry large amounts of cash or other valuables are granted permits.

"We hold that the Second Amendment does not preserve or protect a right of a member of the general public to carry concealed firearms in public," Circuit Judge William A. Fletcher wrote for the majority.

San Francisco is, of course, a Democratic liberal sanctuary city that unconstitutionally disarms its citizens, which allows those of the criminal persuasion to rape, pillage, and kill, at their whim and whimsy, the law-abiding citizens all while declaring the city a "Safe-Zone."  It is unfortunate that man's law attempts to override the laws of nature - kill or be killed!

When is a non-celebrity's life less important than a celebrity? When is a person, who is not being stalked or threatened, more important than one who is being stalked or threatened?  When is a poor person's life less important than one who carries large sums of cash?

A decision by a court of law is a tool, as is a firearm. It is quite apparent that it is not the tool, but the fool wielding the tool, that is the problem.

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one.” — from “Essay on Crimes and Punishments” by Cesare Beccaria, as quoted by Thomas Jefferson in his own “Legal Commonplace Book”

What most 21st Century Americans simply do not grasp is that the Constitution and Bill of Rights were not written to to give rights to the citizens of our then-new nation, but was instead written to tightly constrain the federal government.

SIGH! . . . . . Whimper . . . . . Sputter Gasp . . . . . and I'll throw in a WHEW!

"We will have a good government as long as those that govern are effected by those laws that they pass. When those that are passing the laws are no longer effected by those laws then they will no longer pass good laws."
