What most 21st Century Americans simply do not grasp is that the Constitution and Bill of Rights were not written to to give rights to the citizens of our then-new nation, but was instead written to tightly constrain the federal government.

That is a very, very sad story . . . .

Seems now the University is sending out emails to notify everyone when the ROTC has drills.
This happening in Los Angeles, New York or San Francisco would be somewhat understandable.
But North Dakota . . . . . Give me a break.

Brain-dead, indeed!
Or maybe just Progressive.
(Oh — sorry: I guess that the two terms are synonymous.)

Would it do any good to send such universities letters that inform them that such things are making them laughing stock?

There's this one too:

I read that one. Ludicrous!  I really don't know what is worse, brain-dead professors or brain-dead students.

Einstein observed,  "It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity."

Or, as Thomas Sowell put it, "The march of science and technology does not imply growing intellectual complexity in the lives of most people. It often means the opposite."

Ignorance cannot be fixed when ignorance is the teacher.

I just heard on the morning news that someone did a dastardly deed and loosened the top of a salt shaker in a local college cafeteria - psychiatric counseling for victims is being offered.

What!!!

We're missing the cause of the problem.
There was a recent rise in assaults, primarily sexual assaults, on college and university campuses. In response, college and university faculty, management, and police began a concerted drive to "make campuses safe." This safety drive was well publicized.
Children being children, the students have misinterpreted the meaning of "safety" in this context, and are now demanding intellectual "safety" (if such a thing can be said to exist) from their schools.
And college and university administrators, being the intellectual lightweights that they are, are too involved in retaining their jobs by avoiding confrontation to set the students straight on the reason for, and the meaning of, "safety."

Intellectual "safety" is the exact opposite of the reason for a college or university education.
Institutes of higher learning supposedly exist in order to promote the exploration of myriad ideas, not to stifle them and channel students into "correctness."
Thus, what we now have is not education, but rather perversion.

I waited till now to read the article because I figured something like this from the title.

So many comments flood through my noggin now that I cringe at trying to relate them.

So, I'll just say...ugh.

"Intellectual Safety" (if such a thing can be said to exist)
That seems to explain it very well . . . . . . If it did exist it would have to be in an alternative reality that was drawn in a comic book.
Which means . . . . . This looks like a job for Mighty Mouse!
Here I come to save the day!
