Black Friday!
« on: November 26, 2011, 05:57:16 AM »
Shoppers angry at having to wait for the trendy Hollister clothing chain's New York flagship store to open Friday crashed through its doors and treated themselves a looting spree, cops and witnesses said.

It is also obvious that Wal-Mart is not the place to be on Black Friday, as it brings out the worse in people.

We have a Grandfather who was trying to protect his grandson taken down by police - while in the store.

The Grandson said that his grandfather was trying to keep other people from taking the game away from him. Unless the law if different there, it is not considered shoplifting until the person passes the last point of purchase. Here we have a case of presumed guilt before proven innocent.

We have people shot, roughed up, and robbed - in the parking lot after they had made their purchases.

We also have the police pepper spraying crowds.

We also have a woman pepper spraying a crowd to keep from electronics that she wants.

Wow, that's surprising! A shooting in states with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation; New York and California. Who would have thought it.

Oh, yeah! There was also a bomb threat:

If you go to Wal-mart on Black Friday, don't forget your gas mask, full-body protective suit, and body armor. Better yet, don't go.

Black Friday is aptly named, as it seems that people go into some dark void.

The fact that the GOVERNMENT would even consider removing the natural right to bear arms is the very reason why the 2nd Amendment was written.

Which is why we stay home on Black Friday.....

Besides we each worked a couple of hours clearing trees and brush (all the more for our DNR contract that expires in Feb 2012).  Loved the Indian Summer yesterday....!

When you see the actual crowds rushing through the doors it makes me wonder if there is really any hope for the general public. Sorry but being dragged around by advertising that is telling you that you can save money by coming down to the store at midnight and buy something on your credit card just does not make sense to me.

I was in San Francisco a number of years ago when my wife and I and some fiends went out of BF.  We went into the downtown area where "FAO Schwartz" was just opening their new toy store, but going into it was much like going into a museum, as the crowd was much too crowded!

No I prefer to shop when everyone else is working  ;)  I prefer the deals I get on the Internet and usually on the AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service) that we active duty or retirees can (only) shop at.   You can have the crowds....I'll take the wide open spaces...

Do you know why they call it black Friday?

The story is, most retail businesses run in the red (loose money) for the year, but from the day after Thanksgiving, on to the end of the year, is the time they start making money.

These are accounting term. When the  business goes into the black ink, on the accounting sheet, it means they are making a profit. Red ink notations, in old time accounting ledgers when it was done by hand, was a indication of running at a loss.

Ther-by the companies coined the term black Friday because that is the time most would go from a losing bottom line to showing a profit for the year.

The people, with apearently "no rasin", is what has put a black eye on the shopping day. I just don't participate any longer, however I did go out last year and purchased a Cannon Wide Body Gun Safe at a good price. I saved 300.00 on it, but mostly I stay home and eat leftovers!!!!!!!!!!!! Ain't choice grand!!!!!!!!
