Emily gets her gun, Part 2
« on: January 11, 2012, 06:03:57 PM »
I found this on The Washington Times site.  And back before instant background checks I used to think it was a pain to get a permit from the local sheriff here in Missouri in order to buy a pistol!  Sheesh!

Evidently this is only a part of what the writer has been going through in order to legally purchase a gun in Washington DC.  If you click on her name at the beginning of the article you'll find several more articles about her journey.

I've only read this one, so far, but you should all read it in order to fully understand the unbelievable process involved just to exercise a constitutional right in our nation's capitol!  Disgusting doesn't even come close!

Yep I have been following her story since she started and she's still working on it. its really pathetic that they have to go thru so much hassle to buy a gun.
Heck I can leave my house and if I have the money I can have a new shooter in an hours time easy.

Been following her saga too. Reminds me how fortunate I am to live where I do.

I too have been following. I liked what was presently the first comment. G2G

"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the

Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months and a total of 2112

deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

...

The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 people for the same

period.

That means you are about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S.

capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the U.S., than

you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: The U.S. should pull out of Washington!"
