Cocealed Carry for City Employees
« on: June 25, 2019, 03:48:26 PM »
Mt Juliet TN mayor proposed a ordinance allowing city employees, who have valid concealed carry permits, to carry their EDC to work. He explained after the latest mass shooting where 11 city employees were killed, he feels his city employees have a right to self defense even at work. His plan is to allow them to carry for self protection.

Be interesting to see if this flies. By the way, I agree with him.

I agree that this is a good idea, but it is only a start. Why doesn’t anyone who is doing business with the city have a right of self defense? There should be no gun-free zones. Anyone with a valid concealed carry permit should be able to carry in government buildings.

I heartily second the motion!

For those of you that do not know the "Anti-Gun" history of California here is a very short explanation.

Way back when everyone that wanted to would or could carry a gun in California could do so.
To own one you walked into a store or ordered from a catalog and it was mailed to you.
They could even order one from a Sears and Roebuck catalog.
You could purchase ammunition at you local hardware store.

Then the day came when a group of local Black Panthers decided to protest a series of bad events that took place. They marched into the Sacramento State Capitol Building carrying rifles and guns that were in fact loaded. It was not against any laws at this time to do so.

Naturally the elected officials freaked out.
They started passing laws that would make this type of event from ever happening again.
This was way back when, and they are continuing to do so even to this day.

So when you hear NRA or the CRPA association saying, "if you give them an inch they will take a mile. Believe it"!!! They started then and haven't slowed down, in fact they have speeded it up.

This whole story is available in the internet if you want the details but this is in fact a very true story.
I was alive and living here and remember this event very well.

Yes, Chuck, you're right...
I was in California then, too, and I also remember it very well.
And, you know, neither the California Rifle & Pistol Association nor the NRA seemed to care about what had been done to us.

Texas allows folks with a License to Carry to go around the metal detectors at the state capitol building. Interestingly many reporters get an LTC so they can get in faster. I've carried in the capitol. I think most of the legislators do to. Well except for the liberals. (Unless they are hypocrites)

YEAH Charles . . . . But I wonder how many do carry and don't talk about it.
Unless of course they have a body guard with them at all times.
