There are so many flaws in the writer's thinking that defies logic!
The fact that the GOVERNMENT would even consider removing the natural right to bear arms is the very reason why the 2nd Amendment was written.

Paraphrased: "The US Constitution doesn't fit my immediate personal desires, so I want it changed to suit my present-day needs and ideals. And then I'll want it changed again, when, in the future, my personal needs and feelings change some more."

Yup. He's a Progressive.

I used to think "Progressive" sounded like a good thing. I mean, who wouldn't want to make "progress" , in anything?

What's not to like?, thought I.

But then, I discovered what the term meant in the context of political ideology,  and then it no longer seemed like a good thing.

Some things are not meant to "progress".

Our technology is always progressing, and getting "better" , but human nature is stuck at the Cain and Able stage.

There was a time, back at the beginning of the 20th century, when Progressivism was a good thing, and a force for doing social good.
There were Progressivist aberrations, certainly, but the overall effect was to better US society.

Even as late as the "reign" of F.D.R., Progressivism was still doing more good than evil.
But then, as the over-indulged children of the "Greatest Generation" became adults, Progressivism switched from doing mostly good for many people to attempting to control everybody "for their own good."

Those over-indulged children wanted to continue having everything done for them, and, to satisfy their desire (and thereby to get politicians reėlected), the government was quickly transformed into our nanny and our minder.

And here we sit.

See adjectival definition #2.

"Enlightened" and "liberal" does not always equal "progress toward better conditions."

Besides, nowadays "liberal" no longer means liberal. Instead, it now means restrictive.
(See: "liberal education," "liberal university," and "liberal politician.")

It would seem that AI has the capacity to learn and reason - unlike most progressives.
The fact that the GOVERNMENT would even consider removing the natural right to bear arms is the very reason why the 2nd Amendment was written.

To be more precise, in this case, the "Progressives" I don't care for are the ones who insist that the Constitution is, or should be,  a "living document" that should change as society changes.
For some reason, they seem to think human nature is getting better, and therefore the law of the land should reflect this "improvement" in the human condition, the "Mass Mind".

Ha!

The Constitution is a living document; it is the reason that most of us live as free as we do - for now.
The fact that the GOVERNMENT would even consider removing the natural right to bear arms is the very reason why the 2nd Amendment was written.
