What most 21st Century Americans simply do not grasp is that the Constitution and Bill of Rights were not written to to give rights to the citizens of our then-new nation, but was instead written to tightly constrain the federal government.

In the US handgun wounds are about 40% lethal last I remember. Knife wounds are about 60% lethal.

For good reason.
I was stabbed once, years (decades) ago on the streets of Birmingham Alabama.
Thought I was going to bleed to death before I could get to the hospital!  Not fun!
