Bad Day In My County!

I wish that people who own firearms would wake up and secure them if they are not on the person. Complacency kills!

Quote
Washington told reporters at the scene that the gun was normally kept in a safe place, but he did not specify where that place was. He also said he was not sure if the gun had a lock in place or if the child unlocked it while playing with the firearm.

“This is a very unfortunate and sad situation,” Washington said. “It’s a reminder for gun owners to ensure that their guns are stored in a place where children cannot access them. It’s also a very sad reminder about how important it is to teach all children about firearms safety and what can happen when you play with a gun.”

The fact that the GOVERNMENT would even consider removing the natural right to bear arms is the very reason why the 2nd Amendment was written.

Last year, when I announced to GT that my nephew had shot and killed himself in Idaho, it was a situation much like described in this post.

The owners of the 9mm let their guard down, probably for an hour or two (more?).  Their grandson, I guess that made him my great nephew, discovered it, apparently "playing" with it, and offed himself.

Out of compassion for them, the owners of the piece...and close relatives...we've not interrogated them about how they could be so STUPID!
They've suffered quite a bit already so we don't want to add to it.

Ya can't take anything for granted, especially nowadays.

<Sent from phone. Typos possible.>

Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight, and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be.  One hundred percent and then some.
