The fact that the GOVERNMENT would even consider removing the natural right to bear arms is the very reason why the 2nd Amendment was written.

Venezuela produces enough oil to be a fairly wealthy nation, with well-fed people.
But a socialist government, Soviet-style central economic planning, the nationalization of industry, and a wide-ranging dole system has bankrupted the entire country.
Further, instead of learning a lesson from the collapse of the Soviet Union and the imminent collapse of its own economy, the Venezuelan government instead sought a scapegoat, and, while continuing along its pre-set path, blamed all of its problems upon the evil plottings of the United States.

The Venezuelan people ate this story up, at least for a while. But now, after a serious change in their government, the people see that the conspiracy theory no longer holds water.

I wonder whether they will revolt.

I wonder, too, whether the American people will take a lesson from Venezuela.
(I bet that we do not.)

Sadly, and from all indications of America's self-indulgent society and other ignorant masses, I have to agree with you.
